Favorable weather patterns—ranging from partly cloudy skies to warm, calm days—combined with skilled captains and crews produced a memorable series of fishing accomplishments that highlighted the strength of the spring bite in Cabo.

31‑foot Bertram Tracy Ann

On Friday, April 17, 2026, under partly cloudy skies and choppy seas, the 31‑foot Bertram Tracy Ann, captained by Fernando with crew members Brian and Noe, headed directly to the 1150 Spot with a group visiting from Little Rock, Arkansas: Daniel Blair, Doug Brass, Grady McCoy, and Michael Connery. Despite 24‑mph winds, the anglers successfully caught and released a Striped Marlin estimated at 90–100 pounds on cocinero and later landed a 10‑pound Dorado on ballyhoo at the same location.

That same day, the 62‑foot Viking Chasin Tail, captained by Pepe de la Peña and his team, reported a productive outing as well. Anglers Adam Rhys, Philip Cary, Scott Elsas, and Timothy McNamara of Georgia landed a 28‑pound Dorado on ballyhoo below the 1150 Spot, adding to the day’s strong results.

That same day, Captain Pipo and Mate Manuel Jr. aboard the 40‑foot Cabo Express La Coronita guided California angler Rene Corona to three Striped Marlin releases weighing 90–100 pounds each, all taken on cocinero at the 1150 Spot.

On Monday, April 20, 2026, with warm, calm conditions and temperatures around 77 degrees, Steven Seibold of Longmont, Colorado, chartered the 31‑foot Bertram, captained by Jefe with mate Chava. He enjoyed a standout day, releasing three Striped Marlin weighing 90, 110, and 120 pounds, all taken on live and dead cocinero at the 1150.

Also on Monday, the 28‑foot Uniflite Andrea, captained by Jesus and Raul, reported success at the same location, where Atlanta anglers Jennifer Evers and Julie Oyler released two Striped Marlin weighing 100–110 pounds, both caught on cocinero.On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, the 31‑foot Rebecca, captained by Orlando with mate Marcelo, guided Cody, Jake, and Mark Stephenson of Fort McMurray, Alberta, to a 140‑pound Blue Marlin caught on cocinero under clear skies and calm seas.

That same day, Captain Ricardo and Mates Marcos and Esteban aboard the 42‑foot Bertram Big Yahoo reported a productive outing at the 1150, where a large group from Metairie, Louisiana—Abby Hatrel, Bonnie Hatrel, Bryon Hatrel, Carey Kernion, Evan Hatrel, Joseph Lemoine, Richard Kernion Jr., and Tyler Hatrel—landed a Dorado on an 8/10 lure. By day’s end, several members of the group—Bryon, Evan, Joseph, and Tyler—were affectionately dubbed “Camarada’s,” reflecting their camaraderie with the crew.

On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, under clear skies and calm seas, the 37‑foot Viking Billfish BBII, captained by Hector with Mates Joel and Lalo, delivered one of the week’s most extraordinary performances. Ashley and Bryan Hand of Mansfield, Texas, caught and released fifteen Striped Marlin ranging from 80 to 130 pounds using ballyhoo and cocinero at the 1150 Spot. Also, that day, Marshall Cromer and guests from Oakland, California, fishing aboard My Way with Captain Arturo and Mates Daniel and Josue, landed a 15–20‑pound Dorado on a curry lure at the 1150.

On Thursday, April 23, 2026, aboard the Karina, Captain Bruce and Mate Jorge Velez reported a 20‑pound Dorado caught on jurelito by Cody, Jake, and Mark Stephenson of Fort McMurray, Alberta. Also on April 22, the BBII, captained by Hector with Mates Lalo and Alan, recorded another successful outing at the 1150, where Debra Palmer, Dr. David Palmer, Reed Spiller, and Shai Castillo of Huntington, Texas, released three Striped Marlin weighing 100–120 pounds on ballyhoo and cocinero.
