Piscis Update June 19-25, 2026
What a week! Conditions were excellent! The weather has been pleasant, between 81 and 88 degrees, with calm winds, which allowed the Pisces fleet to capitalize on the remarkable variety of game fish in Cabo waters, making the outing more enjoyable.
The captains and crew responded daily, relying on their extensive local knowledge gained over decades. However, their efforts were worthwhile. By the end of the week,many different species were counted, including Striped Marlin, Blue Marlin, Dorado, Yellowtail, Yellowfin, Silky Shark, Thresher Shark, Jurelito, Cocinero, etc.
On Friday, June 19, 2026, conditions were favorable. Clear skies and calm seas created a pleasant environment, with wave heights ranging from 4 to 5 feet and a light wind of approximately 9 miles per hour. The air temperature was warm, ranging from 81 to 84 degrees, contributing to a comfortable atmosphere throughout the day.
Aboard the 28-foot Uniflite “ANDREA,” Captain Chuy and Mate Romero, also known as “Super Mario,” reported a notable catch. Anglers Jeff and Carrie Satterlund landed a 150-pound Yellowfin Tuna on cocinero at the 1150 Spot and a Dorado weighing approximately 20 to 25 pounds using ballyhoo along the Chileno shoreline. It was a rewarding and memorable day on the water.
On this outing aboard “LA CHINGONA 2,” a 64-foot Viking captained by ToÃ’o, his fishing party, including Bryan Wilborn, Clayton Smith, Kara Smith, and Taylor Wilborn, all visiting from Midland, Texas, achieved an impressive catch while fishing the Destiladeras area. The anglers successfully landed and released two Blue Marlin, each weighing approximately 200 to 220 pounds, caught on ballyhoo and dead bait. In addition, they released two Striped Marlin in the 100- to 110-pound range, also on ballyhoo. Their trip gave them a lot to talk about, not only at the dock, but for a long time to come when they returned home to Texas.
On Saturday, June 20, 2026, calm waters prevailed all day. Wave heights averaged about 5 feet, creating stable, manageable conditions offshore. Water temperatures ranged from 79 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit, while air temperatures stayed comfortable, between 75 and 83 degrees Fahrenheit, contributing to an overall pleasant and productive day on the water.
The 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, “KNOT WORKIN,“ crewed by Captain Abraham and Mate Cesar, delivered an impressive offshore performance. The team used effective techniques, including Kite fishing and fishing “Palos Abajo,” which proved productive at their chosen spot. Anglers Ben Borgie and Bjorn Merten, visiting from Merritt Island, Florida, landed 10 Yellowfin Tuna during their trip, ranging in sizes from smaller 8 and 10-pound fish to significantly larger specimens weighing 40, 50, and up to 60 pounds, contributing to an estimated total catch weight of approximately 1,150 pounds. They enjoyed an excellent day on the water, highlighted by both the quantity and quality of the tuna caught.
Captain Rosendo, supported by Mate Carlos Gomez Santos on the 31-foot Bertram, “TIBURON,” delivered a productive day on the water with a strong mixed catch. Anglers Andrew Shey, Charles Maxwell Reyes, Juan Adame, and Justo Garza Reyes, visiting from Houston, Texas, successfully raised, landed, and released three Striped Marlin, from 60 to 100 pounds. In addition, they released two Silky Sharks between 60 and 70 pounds, plus two Cocinero and two Jurelito, all caught at the productive 1150 Spot. The Texans enjoyed a successful offshore outing, highlighted by a diverse, well-rounded catch.
On Sunday, June 21, 2026, weather and sea conditions were highly favorable, with clear skies and calm seas throughout the day. Wave heights ranged from 3 to 5 feet, creating relatively gentle marine conditions. Air temperatures ranged from 78 to 83 degrees Fahrenheit. Winds remained light to moderate, between 2 and 11 knots, contributing to a stable, pleasant environment.
The “EL CAZADOR,” a 29-foot Black Fin captained by Carmelo N. and Mate Luis A., reported an impressive catch enjoyed by Glenn and Sue Grapentine, visiting from Daytona Beach, Florida. The catch included four released Striped Marlin weighing between 80 and 128 pounds, all taken using caballito bait at the 1150 Spot. The anglers also landed one 37.5-pound Dorado caught on the same bait at the same location.
“LA CHINGONA 2,” a 64-foot Viking run by Captain Miguel with Mates Jose and Roberto, reported a productive day offshore. Anglers James Robert Moffett III, James Robert Moffett Jr., and Peter Alexander Gardener released two Striped Marlin weighing 120 to 140 pounds. The fish were caught with live and dead cocinero outside the 1150 Spot. They also landed 10 Yellowfin Tuna, ranging from about 8 to 60 pounds, using a Kite and spreader bar technique in the same area.
On Monday, June 22, 2026, conditions in the Cabo area were notably favorable for offshore fishing. Skies were clear, providing excellent visibility and stable conditions throughout the day. The sea was calm, with wave heights averaging 4 to 5 feet, and light winds of about 8 miles per hour helped maintain consistent surface conditions.
The 42-foot Bertram, “YAHOO,“ captained by Ricardo Escamilla, delivered a great day on the water, highlighted by a multi-generational group consisting of Anna and Benjamin Funderburg, Christopher and Crystal Funderburg, Luke and Eva Funderburg, and Elizabeth Funderburg, who caught and released two Striped Marlin estimated at 90 to 100 pounds. The fish were taken on ballyhoo near the 1150 Spot, an area known for consistent billfish activity under favorable conditions. The experience was enjoyable and memorable for all aboard.
Hudson and Kristan Lucas, along with Michael Lucas of Weatherford, Texas, chartered the “REBECCA,” a 31-foot Bertram, operated by Captain Orlando with Mate Marcelo. The anglers enjoyed a diverse, action-packed trip centered at the productive 1150 Spot. They landed and released a Striped Marlin weighing approximately 90 pounds on a cocinero. They also encountered multiple shark species, landing and releasing two Silky Sharks estimated at 60 pounds each and a sizeable Thresher Shark in the 140- to 150-pound range, all caught using bait at the 1150 Spot. They had a wonderful day featuring a mix of pelagic and predatory species under excellent offshore conditions.
On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, environmental conditions were pleasant and stable, with clear skies and calm seas throughout the day. Wave heights ranged from 2 to 3 feet, producing a mild, gentle surf. Water temperatures ranged from 77°F to 81°F, while air temperatures reached 88°F and 80°F, providing warm, consistent weather.
The “TIBURON,” a 31-foot Bertram, operated by Captain Rosendo and Mate Carlos Gomez Santos, had an excellent fishing trip at the Herradura Spot. Anglers, including Gage Gerken, Jack Gerken, John Gerken, and Patrick Gerken, residents of Fountain Valley, California, landed a total of twelve Yellowfin Tuna, with weights recorded at 10, 15, 60, and up to 131 pounds. The catch was made with lures, palos, and plumas, using an effective combination of techniques.
Captain Orlando Murillo and Mate Salvador Flores aboard the “VALERIE,” a 35-foot Bertram, reported a productive outing about 20 miles offshore from the 200 Spot. Angler Michael Orosco of Lexington, Texas, landed eight Yellowfin Tuna, each weighing between 10 and 12 pounds, primarily on live bait. In addition to the tuna, he caught one impressive Blue Marlin weighing 332 pounds using a curry setup.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the seas were favorable, and the skies were clear. Waves ranged from 4 to 5 feet, with winds from 5 to 22 knots, providing generally stable and pleasant travel conditions. Water temperature ranged from 81°F to 83°F, and air temperature was 80°F to 86°F, making it an enjoyable trip.
The 28-foot Uniflite, “ANDREA,” managed by Captain Jesús R. and Mate Noé, led a fishing trip for anglers Charles Long, Cody Slansky, M. J. Behary, and Mike A. Behary, all from West Salem, Ohio, that yielded 15 Yellowfin Tuna weighing 7 to 50 pounds on bait. The catch was achieved using lures in the Herradura area.
Captain Carmelo N., with Mate Luis A., aboard the 29-foot Black Fin, “El Cazador,” completed a successful fishing outing for Kevin and Jennifer Frazier, residents of Clemmons, North Carolina, who caught 10 Yellowfin Tuna weighing 8 to 45 pounds on bait and feathers at the Herradura Spot.
On Thursday, June 25, 2026, clear skies and calm seas prevailed throughout the day. Wave heights ranged from 4 to 5 feet, with a steady wind of about 10 miles per hour. The water temperature was a warm 81 degrees, while air temperatures reached a high of 92, creating a pleasant, stable weather environment.
Operating under the direction of Captain Toño alongside Mates Miguel, Luis, and Toño Jr., the “LA CHINGONA 2,” a 64-foot Viking, reported an excellent trip. Anglers Chandler Kingston, David Kingston, Jayce Sommers, Justin Sommers, Kristy Sommers, Miah Davis, Nick Kingston, and Sydney Sommers landed two Yellowfin Tuna weighing 70 to 76 pounds, using the Kite and bait at 25 miles on a 180-degree heading from their departure.
The 29-foot Black Fin, the “El Cazador,” reported a successful adventure for Catherine and Lawrence Westchester of West Palm Beach, Florida, who landed four Yellowfin Tuna weighing approximately 8 to 10 pounds on bait. The catch was made outside the Herradura. It was an enjoyable day for all aboard.
Overall, the period from June 19 to June 25, 2026, featured favorable weather and sea conditions, allowing the anglers to enjoy a series of active and unforgettable adventures. Across various boats and fishing grounds, they caught a diverse range of species, including Yellowfin Tuna, Striped Marlin, Dorado, and Sharks. With skilled, knowledgeable crews, effective techniques, and stable conditions, large numbers were recorded throughout the week, making it a highly rewarding stretch of offshore fishing.
