Striped Marlin Led the Bite as Cabo Closes Out 2025 in Style

Pisces Sportfishing Weekly Report
December 26, 2025 – January 1, 2026
Cabo San Lucas, B.C.S., Mexico

Successful Trips 129, Catch success rate 94.16% Billfish 60.58% Dorado 12,41%, Other 7.30, Roosterfish 0.73% Tuna 38.69%, Wahoo 6.57%.

Calm seas, steady action on Striped Marlin, with boats releasing multiple numbers per day—BBII released 12 Striped Marlin on Sunday. There were standout numbers of  Yellowfin Tuna caught, one weighing 181 pounds, with Wahoo weighing up to 71 pounds; plus, there were more than the usual number of Dorado taken for this time of year. In addition, there were two impressive Blue Marlin caught this week, highlighting the final Pisces Sportfishing report of the year: One was a 300-pound Blue Marlin released aboard the Tracy Ann, along with another 219-pound Blue earlier in the week aboard the Adriana.

The final week of 2025 delivered classic winter fishing in Cabo — calm seas, clear skies, and steady action across the board. Striped Marlin dominated the offshore bite with consistent numbers from Los Arcos, Faro Viejo, Rancho San Lucas, and La Brecha. Yellowfin Tuna remained the volume species, with boats landing anywhere from a handful to double-digit counts, especially around Jaime Bank and the 270/150 lines.
Dorado were scattered but still present, and a couple of standout Wahoo added variety to the catch. Inshore, bottom fishing produced Grouper and Ladyfish.
Weather remained stable throughout the weekend—calm seas, light winds, and water temperatures in the high 70s—providing excellent conditions to close out the year.

JANUARY 1, 2026: 2025 ended on a pleasant note as fishing in Cabo exploded. Marlin, Yellowfin, and even Wahoo and Dorado were around to surprise the anglers who came to play at the end of the year. Is the weather change affecting fishing and seasonal patterns as well? Who knows, but I think I would not want to be the last in line to find out.
