The seas were calm all week, and the waves made for a pleasant boat ride, but most people weren’t out for a boat ride; they were out to fish. The Water Temp was 68 to 70 degrees F, and the Air Temp ran around 69 to 73 degrees. There were a few Striped Marlin here and there and a couple of large Wahoo to be had by the lucky anglers in the right place at the right time. But the real adventure was in the variety of catches – Sierra was caught in the numbers, as were a few Dorado, Jack Crevalle, Skipjack, Roosterfish, and even some Grouper.

“LA BRISA,” 31-foot Bertram, with Captain Orlando M and Mate Jesus Winkler, took the two brothers, Jake and William Gilbert out to the Migriano where they caught a variety of fish. They caught Eighteen
Sierra on bait, Three Grouper on chum, Three 20-pound Jack Crevalle on cuchi and Rapala, Fifteen Ladyfish, and One 25-pound Sheepshead, both on chum.

Carl Townsend, Drew Hawley, Gennice Littlefield, Karen Hamilton, Kasei Byford, and Monica Townsend chose the “C ROD,” a 38-foot Blackfin with Captain Daniel and Mate Ulises G. who took them to the Palmitas where they caught various species of fish – Twenty Sierra, One 12-pound Jack Crevalle, and One Skipjack on cuchi. It was a fun day of fishing. They no sooner brought one fish to the stern than another hungry fish was at the bait. The group had a great fishing day!

Juan Sanchez and Steve Tenute from Illinois had a memorable experience on the ‘REBECCA,’ a 31-foot Bertram. While Captain Jose Ramon Alucano and Mate Jose were running the boat, Juan and Steve managed to catch and release One 150-pound Striped Marlin, One 10-pound Dorado on Ballyhoo, and Three Yellowfin Tuna on feathers. The crew and the anglers were overjoyed with the successful catches and the prospect of enjoying the delicious fillets.

Guests from Alaska had a successful fishing trip, thanks to their choice of the 28-foot Uniflite, “ADRIANA,” and the guidance of Captain Fernando and Mate Arturo. Their journey towards La Lobera was exciting as brothers Donald Lay, Drew Lay, and Robbie Lay from Wasilla, Alaska, caught and released Twenty-five Sierra on cuchi at the La Lobera. The experience thrilled them and couldn’t wait to plan another trip.

On the “RUTHLESS” a 31-foot Bertram, with Captain Beto Lira and Jesus R. in charge, the guests, Catherine Heywood, Citlati Shumway, Kendrick Shumway, and Tristin Shumway, from San Jose del Cabo, BCS, Mexico, headed to the 1150. The spot where they caught Three Dorado on cuchi and mackerel. The day went by too quickly.

“LISTO” run by Captain Ramon and his Mate Benio, decided the 95 Spot was the place to go on this day, and they were correct. Their single angler on the boat, Pat McGrenera, from Spring, Texas, caught and released Two 120-pound Striped Marlin on a mackerel and a lure, and he caught one 34-pound Wahoo on a lure outside the 95 Spot. Pat McGrenera was proud of his catches that day.
“RUTHLESS,” a 31-foot Bertram, with Captain Beto Lira and Mate Brian, took their guests from Clairesville, Ohio, Gordon Longshaw, Larry Fehr, and Stephanie Mendelson, to the Palmita Spot where they caught 27 Sierra on cuchi. They ended the day with enough fish for a sushi party, had they wanted to invite a few of their closest friends!
Juan Sanchez and Steve Tenute from Illinois selected Captain JR and Mate Jose who headed the “VALERIE,” a 35-foot Bertram, straight to the Cerros del Golden where the anglers caught Thirty-four Sierra on cuchi and One 10 pound Roosterfish on mackerel at the Cerros de Arena. They had a wonderful time!
Captain Jesus Romero and Mate Carlos Santos who run the “El TIBURON,” a 31-foot Bertram, took Vaughn, Montana, guests Gibbons Cornwell and Jeff Hamlin to the Punta Gorda Spot where they caught and released Two 120-pound Striped Marlin on mackerel. They returned to the dock all smiles!
“BILL COLLECTOR II,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge with Captain Lopez at the Helm and Mate Martinez overseeing the cockpit. They ran to Punta Gorda where their group from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Aaron Van Voorst, Clay Winrich Dawson Van Voorst, and Sandie Van Voorst caught One 10-pound Skipjack on feathers. The crew and the anglers were pleased with the day in the sun, and the chance to get to know each other.
