This report doesn’t just chronicle numbers; it tells the story of a time when the sea was alive with adventure, where every vessel carved its chapter in the ongoing saga of the water. The camaraderie, precision, and joy shared among these crews, their passengers, and anglers remind us that when passion meets the sea, memories resonate far beyond the tides.

Captain Abel and Mate JosA© Luis Ninja had guests from Washington, Marcelino Castillo, Michael Rimkus, and Saul Armenta, aboard their boat, the “RIPPER,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge. They ran to the 1150 Spot as there were reports of Marlin in that area, and their anglers caught and released four 120-pound Striped Marlin on ballyhoo and mackerel. Their excitement for the day was an 80-pound Mako Shark, however! They departed the boat a bit out of breath, or rather, a lot out of breath, after fighting these warriors.

Captain Abraham and Mate Lozano, who run the 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, the “KNOT WORKIN,” greeted their group from Hortonville, Wisconsin, David Bedrosian, Nick Bedrosian, Renea Bedrosian, and Zach Bedrosian, as though they were long-time friends and then headed to the 95 Spot where the anglers caught and released Three 100 to 120-pound Striped Marlin on bait. The 95 Spot comes within 95 fathoms of the surface of a 1,200-foot-deep plateau. Plateau: a raised area of land, flat on top, often found in mountainous regions, such as underwater areas. It is located nine miles east of Cabo San Lucas, and species such as Yellowtail, Marlin, Dorado, and Reef Fish, including Roosterfish, Cabrilla, Pargo, and Dog Snapper, can often be found there.

In the shimmering pre-noon light, the 31-foot Bertram, “RUTHLESS,” cut through the swells with a determined Captain Beto Lira and Mate Mario running the boat. With their synchronized efforts and keen intuition, the anglers Dawson Nix, Kelly Nix, the 31-foot Bertram, “RUTHLESS,, Kyler Mondich, and Marc Mondich (from Canton, Georgia), were able to catch and release three magnificent Striped Marlin, each weighing 100 to 120 pounds. Dancing around the bait, with every pull and splash, they lived up to the boat’s namesake, marking a day when nature met its match in skill and spirit at the 1150 Spot.
On the “ANDREA,” a 28-foot Uniflite, Captain Fernando and Mate Marcelo took their clients, Brian and Julie Clewley, from Montana to the 1150 Spot, where they caught and released Eight Striped Marlin weighing between 100 and 140 pounds on bait. As they left the boat, the Clewleys commented that they had been big-game fishing before, and it had been tough, but catching and releasing Marlin had been even more challenging. Congratulations to the great anglers and the fantastic crew!

“BILL COLLECTOR II,” a 35-foot Flybridge, with Captain Lopez and Mate Martinez, headed straight to the Cabrillo, where their anglers from Sinks, Georgia — Lola Grayson Byrd, Marnee Byrd, Elise Byrd, Tim Byrd, and Timothy Maxwell Byrd — caught and released five 130-pound Striped Marlin on ballyhoo. They had never released so many billfish in their lives!
Teri DuBose, a single angler from Chico, California, selected the“ADRIANA,” a 28-foot Uniflite, with Captain Frank running the boat and Mate Martinez overseeing the cockpit, and she certainly chose correctly. They ran to the 1150 Spot, where she caught and released three-striped marlin in the 120-pound range on ballyhoo and a small Dorado. She had such a great time with the crew she had chosen that she has vowed to return.
Craig Masmar, Griffin Denzer, Jeremy Denzer, and Porter Denzer from New Prague, Minnesota, chartered the “VALERIE,” a 35-foot Bertram, with Captain Roberto Sandez and Mate Mario Juarez. They headed straight to the 1150 Spot, where they caught and released one 100-pound Striped Marlin on ballyhoo and Twelve Skipjacks in the 10-pound range. They had a fun-filled day and couldn’t wait to go again!
Captain Hector and Mate Gilberto on the “BBII,”a 37-foot 2018 Viking Billfish, ran to the 1150 Spot, where many boats had been catching Marlin this past week, and were lucky enough to find their clients a couple of Striped Marlin as well. Austin Ihnen, Gavin Ihnen, Jackson Ihnen, Kelly Ihnen, and Mark Ihnen from Kentucky caught and released two 120-pound Striped Marlin on bait. Good going to the crew of “BBII!”They were correct when they decided the 1150 Spot was the place to go.
Not far behind, the “REBECCA,” a 31-foot Bertram, joined the fray with a vibrant display of technique. Under the steady guidance of Captain José Ramón Alucano and Mate Jose, delivered five marlin into the day’s legend, and Solo angler Thomas Lundgren from Nebraska—melded mackerel and ballyhoo with the right finesse—and caught and released Five Striped Marlin(100 to 120 pounds each) helped paint a picture of triumph stretching from Nebraska’s heart to the soul of the Pacific Ocean
Not far behind, the “REBECCA,” a 31-foot Bertram, joined the fray with a vibrant display of technique. Under the steady guidance of Captain José Ramón Alucano and Mate Jose, delivered five marlin into the day’s legend, and Solo angler Thomas Lundgren from Nebraska—melded mackerel and ballyhoo with the right finesse—and caught and released FiveStriped Marlin(100 to 120 pounds each) helped paint a picture of triumph stretching from Nebraska’s heart to the soul of the Pacific Ocean.
The “BBII,” a sturdy 37-foot 2018 Viking Billfish, chosen by Ryan Caughren as his fishing platform in Cabo, carved a path through the salty blue waters. His Captain, Osiel, and Mates, Gilberto, and Lalo, tested the boundaries of Ryan’s fishing ability as they ran outside the 1150 Spot, where he coaxed Five-Striped Marlin into taking his bait and then released them. Ryan also caught a 70-pound, spirited, trophy-sized Wahoo. Every strike was a testament to the crew’s legacy and skill honed over years of fishing in Cabo waters, and every catch was a testament to Ryan’s exceptional fishing ability.

The 48-foot Viking, “MY WAY,” run by Captain Arturo and Mates Daniel and Josue, was immediately taken with their Tomlin group, Benjamin, Grace, John, and Cynthia Brenden, and wanted the best trip for them. So, they ran to the 1150 Spot, which is known for its abundant Striped Marlin population, making it a prime location for a great catch for their clients. The anglers were ecstatic when they caught and released ELEVEN Striped Marlin on bait. The catch was enough to keep them smiling for weeks!!!

Captain Frank and Mate Arturo, running the “ADRIANA,” a 28-foot Uniflite, headed to the 1150 Bank where Rand Logsdon had a unique experience of catching and releasing one 100-pound Striped Marlin using a ballyhoo and lure combination. This exciting catch was made outside of the 1150 Bank. Rand was excited with his catch and pleased with his Captain and mate.

Darin Zafferano, Kevin Koligian, and Ryan Lapinsky chose the “EL CAZADOR,” a 29-foot Black Fin, and under the guidance of its Captain Frank and Mate Arturo, the anglers successfully caught and released Two 80-pound Striped Marlin using ballyhoo for bait. This significant catch was made at the 1150 Spot and was a testament to their collective skills and determination. Sometimes, the search for a Marlin and the catch can be difficult, and finding two can be as rewarding as catching ten!

Captain Ray Winkler and Mate Jesus Winkler manage the 31-foot Bertram, “LA BRISA,” for the Pisces Fleet in Cabo. They are a popular captain and mate, and Aaron Dostart and Sally Swiatek from California had requested them specifically when they called the Pisces office. To avoid the crowded 1150 Spot, they headed to the 120 site, and 27 miles out, they spotted a Marlin. The California couple dropped some bait into the water and two Marlin bit! Soon, they had caught and released two 120-pound Striped Marlin on ballyhoo. Not only were they ecstatic, but they had fish tales to tell when they arrived home!
