Santa was good to the Cabo Anglers this week. And he began early! Good weather, good seas, lots of fish, with lots of variety. It was a virtual paradise; next week will be more of the same! A great finish to a great year … HO, HO, HO! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Scott Elsas, an avid angler from Georgia, was fishing aboard the “CHASIN TAIL” a 62-foot Viking with Captain Pepe and Mates Ulises, Ramon, and Dulce. They were all excited, and shouts could be heard throughout the huge vessel as they celebrated the catches and the day on the water!  Scott caught and released Four 90 to 100-pound Striped Marlin on mackerel, One 35-pound Wahoo on Ballyhoo, and Five Grouper from 15 to 40 pounds on squid, all at the Golden Bank.

“ANDREA,” a 28-foot Uniflite, with Captain Fernando and Mate Juan Alcaras, had a couple of anglers from Manchester, N.J., who were there to catch a marlin. They did. Plus, they caught four more, so they caught and released Five Striped Marlin weighing 90 to 140 pounds, One 75-pound Mako Shark, and One 60-pound Wahoo all on mackerel at the La Brecha. Great day, Hunter Rosen and Robert Simon!

Crew and anglers celebrating their days catch

Chartering the ‘TIBURON,’ a 31-foot Bertram, with Captain Bruce Champion running the boat and Mate Carlos Santos running the cockpit, Andy Stoker, Ashlyn Stoker, and Drew Stoker from North Carolina had a great trip catching a variety of fish. They caught and released Three 100 to 120-pound Striped Marlin, Two 10 to 20-pound Grouper, One 40-pound Hammerhead Shark, and One Thresher Shark weighing 80 pounds all caught on bait at the Golden Gate.

Three Grouper in the 15 to 22-pound range

On the 31-foot Bertram, the “REBECCA,” Captain Orlando and Mate Jose Gomez were an excellent choice for their clients Matthew Sisco, Ryan Evans, and Sydney Sisco. As an incredibly skilled captain and mate, they know the waters around Los Cabos well and helped their group catch and release Five 100 to 120-pound Striped Marlin on mackerel. They also caught Three Grouper in the 15 to 22-pound range, One Hammerhead Shark weighing 60 pounds, and One 50-pound Wahoo all on mackerel at the Golden Gate.

Five Yellowfin Tuna in the 10 to 35-pound range

Josie Koeshall and Samuel Koeshall, fishing with Captain Frank and Mate Arturo on the “ADRIANA,” a 28-foot Uniflite, caught Five Yellowfin Tuna in the 10 to 35-pound range on bait, 25 miles to the 240 area. It was a beautiful day on the water, and they had a great time getting to know the captain and mate. It was a fun day where they kept busy catching the hard-fighting tuna.

The "HORIZON," an 87-foot sportfisher

The “HORIZON,” an 87-foot  Horizon with Captain Juan and Mates, took their group Becky Heller, David Heller, Ellie Heller, Grahm Miller, Rachel Rothstein, Sam Heller, and Van Heller to the Golden Gate to find fish. The fish were caught on the Golden Bank. The boat was a dream, but the captain and crew made it an even more pleasant fishing platform. Everyone had a perfectly splendid time!

Of course, they were thrilled!

Kristen Brooke chartered the "VALERIE," a 35-foot Bertram,

On Christmas Eve Day, solo angler Kristen Brooke chartered the “VALERIE,” a 35-foot Bertram, with Captain Salvador Flores and Mate Ulises G. She was kept busy as she caught and released Eight Dorado in the 20-pound range on feathers and bait and Nine Yellowfin Tuna also in the 20-pound range on mackerel, all 23 miles to the 120 Spot. Being quite the fisherwoman, Kristen spent the day learning all she could from the Captain and mate and thought it was the best Christmas she could have had!
