Pisces Fleet’s Bill Collector II Lands 152.5 lbs Swordfish

Bill Collector II. 35 ft Cabo Flybridge. Designed specifically to fish the Cabo seas. Available for charter with Pisces Sportfishing.

Captain Juan Carlos Lopez had told us the day before he caught this fish, that he would land a Swordfish “tomorrow”. The water was blue and 81 degrees when he got out there. Somewhat warm he thought, for a Sword. But as he says, “it’s saltwater, so there’s a chance at anything”.

Then, they had a small Blue Marlin of about 130 lbs, that took to a live caballito, and was successfully released. Shortly after, the crew spotted this Swordfish on the surface. Mate Juan Carlos “Cuate” casted a live caballito bait on a Shimano Talica Reel with 80# spectra and 150# leader. The first cast was ignored by the fish, so Cuate tried again, on the second, the fish took the bait and angler Trey Hagen from Texas, had his bucket list fish to the boat within 25 mins. They we’re back at the dock by 12pm and enjoying Swordy steaks for lunch.

As mentioned before, this SAME day other boats out had incredible days with Mahi up to 52 lbs, Tuna up to 70lbs, 30 lbs Wahoo and Striped Marlin and Sailfish released too, along with this Blue and Sword.

Fishing continues to be good with more Blues bound to show up just around the corner, decent Mahi catches and quite a few more Yellowfin tuna in the 50-70 lbs range.
