Marlin bite picked way up compared to last week. We had 141 Marlin Released total for the fleet, with the Top boats, such as Pisces 37’ BBII releasing 23 Billfish in the week. Their best day they went 10 for 14 on Striped Marlin. Pisces 35’ Bill Collector 2 also did well in the week with 19 Released; going 7 for 9 on their best day. Only one Dorado caught and a few Skipjack Tuna and still a few good inshore catches of Sierra Mackerel, Grouper, Snapper, Ladyfish, Bonita, Triggerfish, etc.
An action packed day for Gary and Linda Alltergott, and Richard and Kristen Holt with 14 Striped Marlin bites aboard Pisces 37’ BBII resulting in 10 Marlin successfully released. Fish averaged 120 lbs each and took ballyhoo bait at the 11:50 Spot.
Top anglers this week were Bob and Michelle Brodsky who released 16 Striped Marlin in their 3 days of fishing aboard Pisces 35’ Bill Collector 2. They had an impressive 7 Marlin released on two days and then another 2 released on another. Fish were caught using ballyhoo and caballito bait at the 11:50 Spot.
Pisces 30’ Karina had 5 Striped Marlin released for Bobby and Robert Eber, using live and dead caballito bait outside of Punta Gorda. Pisces 46’ La Chingona also had 5 Striped Marlin released at Punta Gorda, using ballyhoo bait for Marlin averaging 100 lbs each.
Pisces 48’ Listo and the Carver and Hairstorn families had 4 Striped Marlin released, weighing approximately 120 to 150 lbs each at the 11:50 Spot. Pisces 31’ Tiburon also had 4 Striped Marlin released on caballito bait at the 11:50 Spot for anglers Cal and Kirk Christensen. Pisces 42’ Caliente had 4 Striped Marlin on ballyhoo at the 11:50 Spot. Similarly, Pisces 42’ Sea Senora had 3 Striped Marlin released at this location, but using caballito bait.
Pisces 35’ Valerie had 2 Grouper, 3 Red Snapper between 10 and 15 lbs each and 10 Triggerfish for Angler Charles Simons from Georgia. Pisces 31’ Rebecca had 1 Sierra, 1 Bonita, 2 Grouper, 8 Ladyfish and 1 Red Snapper for anglers from CA.
